He Is Risen!

He-is-RisenHallelujah!  Our Lord is risen!  He’s alive!  Happy Resurrection Sunday brothers and sisters, let us rejoice that we serve a living risen Savior in whom we place our hope, faith and trust.  It is the fact that he rose just as he said that gives us the blessed assurance that we too will rise one day leaving our corruptible bodies behind being glorified in the Lord.  I know of know better way to celebrate this glorious day than to read my favorite of the Resurrection gospels.

Matthew 28&6

Now late on the sabbath day, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was as lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the watchers did quake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which hath been crucified. He is not here; for he is risen, even as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  Matthew 28:1-6

Matthew 28

If you have not already accept the free gift of eternal life assured to believers in Christ our Savior then I urge you to consider doing so today.  What better day to accept the love of the Lord into your heart and life, allowing him to enter in and change you make you new, forgiving you of your sins and taking your place of judgement for the on the cross, then rising from the dead the third day securing for us the promise that we too will rise one day to join Him with the Father in heaven.  Pray now and ask Christ Jesus into your heart, tell him you are sorry for your sins and turn from them, truly repent in your heart and soul, then ask him to change you, lead you guide you, to become the Lord of your life and to restore you to a right relationship with God.  Please do not wait another day, we do not know when our last second here might be and believe me you do not want to enter the grave unwashed and unsecured by the Blood of the Lamb, if you do all that awaits you after is a share of the burning lake of fire and an eternity separated from the God who loves you, who knit you together in your mother’s womb, who died for you then conquered the grave that you might live.  Choose life, choose love, choose hope.  For He is risen!

May God bless and keep your brothers and sisters in Christ.

  1. Steve Finnell says:

Advocates of having sins forgiven by reciting a sinner’s pray use as a proof-text, the parable of the publican and the Pharisee.

Luke 18:9-14 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank You I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 ‘I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 “And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying , ‘God be merciful to me a sinner!. 14 “I tell you, this man went down ti his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be abased, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.(NKJV)

This is not a parable about salvation, it is about arrogance versus humility.

There is no indication that the Pharisee nor the Jewish tax collector were believers in Jesus Christ. They were both Jews.

If you want to say a sinner’s prayer so you can be saved like the Jewish tax collector; then you believe you can have your sins forgiven without confessing Jesus as the Christ. Do you think you can be saved without believing that God raised Jesus from the dead? Do you believe you can be saved without believing that Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe you can be saved while rejecting what Jesus said when He said he who has been baptized will be saved?

The tax collector (publican) was not a Christian, nor did he become a Christian by praying a prayer of humility.
