Walking the Romans Road 1:1-2

Whose ready for the single most important book of Scripture for believers today? I hope you all are and that as we walk this road you will come to a richer deeper relationship with our sweet Savior. The truths contained in this book are so important to us the saints that I will be teaching slowly and there may be a few days between series posts as I try to stay a few paces ahead of you like a good leader my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. We will start tonight with the first seven verses of chapter one. I almost said start easy but with Romans even the greeting is packed with rigorous terrain for our hearts and souls. Let’s walk!

Romans 1:1-7

Paul starts this epistle by clearly stating he is the author called to be an apostle. He is the one Christ himself revealed the mystery of God’s grace to beginning in Acts 9 on the road to Damascus. With Paul we will walk a lot of roads which makes perfect sense considering he was the apostle who took the Gospel of the grace of God over much of the known world during his missionary journeys, possibly as far as Spain!

Paul was separated unto the Gospel of God because he was the only one Christ appeared to with the revelation of the mystery hid in God since beginning of the world, the mystery that brought salvation directly to the lost sinners throughout the world not just through the nation of Israel. When Christ saved Paul, the chief of sinners, something miraculous took place, grace as a free gift of God became a reality, salvation happened. Happened through Christ Jesus, the great I Am, God’s only Son, yet God in full, the awaited Messiah if Israel…

Long awaited, promised afire by the prophets, detailed extensively in the scriptures and almost totally missed by those supposed to be looking for Him. That part blows my mind, Jesus fulfilled literally over 300 prophecies, do you realize what the odds of that happening in one man are? 1 in 1:100000000000000000000000…00000000000…000000000000000…it’s something like three billion, trillion zeros after that, seriously, the late Chuck Missler talks about it in several of his teachings and the number is insane, really. Yet Jesus did it, he fulfilled every single prophecy of his first coming literally to the letter, not one jot or tittle was overlooked. Yet somehow Israel missed the memo, overlooked the elephant and completely blew it. They stumbled at the cross, they fell face first at the stoning a year later and Paul was raised up to take grace to the Gentiles since God’s people rejected their hope, their promises, their salvation. God put them in a rather lengthy time out to think about what they had done and he formed the body of Christ by doing away with the separation between Israel and the rest of the world, the Gentiles, which happens to be most of us. Israel had always been on a works based program with God ; if they do what he says perfectly he will bless them with physical and material blessings if not then look out cause they got cursed – remember King Nebby, and look forward to the ultimate curse the Antichrist. But when they fell God knew it was time and he put his master plan that he’d been keeping secret since before he spoke those first incredible words “Let there be light.” Israel’s fall didn’t surprise Him just as Adam’s didn’t – He knew what would happen and planned in Himself accordingly and praise Him that He did because we are saved today thanks to that secret mystery! That gift of grace that He gave to Jesus to commit to Paul, also known

as that jacked up sinner Saul who made a career out of killing Jewish Jesus followers. That chief sinner became the out apostle and the grace of God became our hope of salvation in Christ.

Author:

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. —— Galatians 2:20
